Sneak peek: Milo Ventimiglia's new Web series – USA TODAY

Mark your digital calendar for January 2013.
That’s when Crackle debuts Chosen, a six-episode thriller, starring and produced by Heroes‘ Milo Ventimiglia. The show follows a suburban dad who discovers a mysterious box on his doorstep containing a loaded gun and a photo of a stranger he is instructed to kill within three days. Much like a TV show, the series will be released on Crackle, Sony’s digital platform, in six 30 minute segments.

Whether movies, TV or Web, as long as you are telling good stories, “it doesn’t matter where you go,” says Ventimiglia. He hopes to validate the Web as a viable platform for longform dramatic storytelling.

“There’s the expectation that you’re not going to get TV-like or film-like quality on the Web … people are still a little afraid of it, but hopefully when they see a project like this, the content, the look, the release, hopefully it will brighten people’s perspectives on digital production.”
The series is created by Ben Ketai (30 Days of Night: Dark Days) and Ryan Lewis (High School, Fat Kid Rules the World). In addition to Ventimiglia, the series stars Diedrich Bader (Office Space, Napoleon Dynamite), Nicky Whelan (Hall Pass), Brett Davern (Awkward) and Katrina Law (Spartacus: Vengeance).
