How to make your Facebook private: Adjust your profile’s privacy settings

How to make Facebook private
There are many options for privacy and who can see your Facebook profile and posts, including:
- Public: “Anyone on or off Facebook.”
- Friends: “Your friends on Facebook.”
- Except friends: “Don’t show some friends.”
- Specific friends: “Show only certain friends.”

If you want to change your privacy settings on Facebook, select your account icon on the desktop and go to the “Settings and privacy” option. Select “Settings”, then “Privacy”.
From there, you can choose which of your content is visible to whom. You can change your activity for who can see your future posts, who can see the people, pages and lists you follow, and who can see your friends list, among other options.
To change privacy settings, select “Edit” to the right of the option and select the Privacy option in the Who Can See drop-menu.

How do I remove my Facebook from search engines?
To prevent your Facebook account from showing up on search engines outside of Facebook (such as Google or Yahoo), go to your “Settings & Privacy” on desktop and select “Settings” then “Privacy.”
Scroll down to the subsection, “How people can find and contact you.” Go to the option, “Do you want search engines outside of Facebook to link to your profile” and select “Edit”.
If this option is turned on, “search engines may link to your profile in their results,” Facebook says. If this setting is off, search engines will stop linking your account. However, your profile can still be found through Facebook Search.
Uncheck the box next to “Allow search engines outside of Facebook to link to your profile” to confirm the removal of your profile from search engines.
